A 5-second AI video clip costs from $0.63 on PixVerse C1 to $5.68 on Seedance 2.5 on RefVid today, at 720p without sound, and a minute of finished clips costs $7.52 to $68.11. The model is most of the price; sound and 1080p add to it.

Below are the prices of all 9 models side by side, what the people using RefVid actually make, and the costs a price list leaves out: failed clips and retakes.

The most common kind of clip in our data: 5 seconds at 720p without sound. Made with RefVid on Kling 3.0 Omni from 3 reference photos of NOIR 07 (an AI-made subject), 155 credits.

AI video cost per second, per clip and per minute on every model

  • AI video is priced by the second of output, and the model sets the rate. On RefVid a 5-second clip at 720p without sound costs from $0.63 (PixVerse C1) to $5.68 (Seedance 2.5); every other length is the same rate times its seconds. The table lists each model's rate, the usual clip lengths, a minute of clips, and the same 5 seconds in HD or with sound.
  • The prices follow what each model costs to run, so a newer or heavier model costs more per second. Sound adds to the rate on some models and is free on others: Kling 4, Gemini Omni Flash, Happy Horse 1.1 and MiniMax H3 always make sound, Vidu Q4, Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 charge the same with or without it. The last column is measured, not priced: the share of clips people started on that model that finished.

Source: RefVid's price list today, paid with the $9.90 credit pack; a monthly plan's credits cost less each, so every clip costs less on a plan. Standard resolution is 720p (768p on MiniMax H3) and HD is 1080p (2K on MiniMax H3); a model that always makes sound is priced with it. Clips that finished: every clip people outside our team started from October 27 – November 6, 2026, shown where a model had at least 20.

What people actually make, and what it costs them

  • Most AI video clips are short, silent and 720p, so the usual cost is the 5-second column above. In our data from October 27 – November 6, 2026, the median clip was 5 sec long and 79% of finished clips were exactly 5 seconds; 17% had sound and 3% were 1080p. That is 391 finished clips by 344 people outside our team.
  • People who paid made longer clips with more extras: a median of 8 sec, 35% with sound and 12% in 1080p, against 5 sec, 14% and 2% on free clips. So a budget built on the cheapest 5-second clip is too low for finished work; price the length and the sound you will really use, then add the retakes below.

The costs a price list leaves out: failed clips and retakes

  • Two costs never show on a price list: clips that fail and clips you don't keep. Of the 457 clips people started on RefVid from October 27 – November 6, 2026, 66 failed, and 86% finished. The finished share differs a lot by model, which is why the table above shows it next to the price.
  • A failed clip costs nothing on RefVid: credits are held when a generation starts and go back to the account if it fails. Not every tool does this, so check before you buy credits. Retakes are the larger cost. A clip that finishes can still have the wrong motion or a product label that drifts, and you pay for it again. What cuts retakes most is the input: 3 to 5 clear reference photos of the subject keep its face or label the same, so fewer takes are thrown away.

AI video cost per minute: count clips, not minutes

  • A minute of AI video costs $7.52 to $68.11 in finished clips on RefVid today, before retakes. Models don't make a minute in one go: each clip is a few seconds long, 10 to 30 at most depending on the model, so a minute is about twelve 5-second clips, each its own generation, joined in an editor.
  • Counting in clips gives a truer budget. List the shots, give each one a length, price each shot on the model you will use, then add one retake for every two or three shots. A 30-second ad of six 5-second shots on Kling 3.0 Omni costs six clips, not half a minute of some average rate. Keeping the same character or product in every shot is what makes those separate clips cut together.

Ways to pay: credits, a single video, or a plan

  • You pay for AI video in one of three ways: credits bought in a pack, one video at a time, or a monthly plan. On RefVid a credit pack starts at $9.90 and its credits never expire, a single video costs from $2.99 with no account balance needed, and a plan starts at $10 a month with the lowest price per credit.
  • Every new account gets one free 5-second clip on Kling 3.0 Omni, so the first video costs nothing. A single video suits one clip now and then; a pack suits a project; a plan suits weekly posting. Whatever the tool, compare the price of the clip you will really make, at its length and with its sound, not the price per credit.

How to keep an AI video budget down

  • Draft cheap, then finish on the model you want. Try the motion on a low-cost model at 720p without sound, and spend the dearer seconds only once the shot works. Draft each shot at 5 seconds and make it longer only when the action needs the time; add sound and HD only to the takes you keep.
  • Fewer retakes save more than any rate. Start from a template whose example already shows the motion you want, so the prompt works the first time, and upload 3 to 5 sharp photos of the subject from different sides, so its face or label holds and fewer takes are thrown away.

Frequently asked questions

How much does AI video cost?

On RefVid a 5-second clip at 720p without sound costs from $0.63 on PixVerse C1 to $5.68 on Seedance 2.5, paid with the $9.90 credit pack. Longer clips cost the same rate per second, sound and 1080p add to it on most models, and the first clip on a new account is free.

What is the AI video cost per second?

It depends on the model: the per-second column of the table runs from the cheapest model to the dearest, at 720p. A clip costs that rate times its length, so a 10-second clip costs twice a 5-second one.

How much is one minute of AI video?

$7.52 to $68.11 in finished clips on RefVid today, depending on the model, before retakes. A minute is about twelve 5-second clips, each generated on its own and joined in an editor; add a retake for every two or three shots.

Do failed AI videos cost money?

Not on RefVid: the credits are held when a clip starts and go back if it fails. In our data 86% of clips finished, and the share differs by model. Other tools have their own rules, so check before buying credits.

Can I make an AI video for free?

Yes, once: every new RefVid account gets one free 5-second clip on Kling 3.0 Omni from your own photos, with no watermark. After that a single video costs from $2.99, a credit pack from $9.90 and a plan from $10 a month.
